Words from the Worthy Grand Patron:
On October 15, 1970 my life took on a new direction. I was initiated in Calvary Lodge No. 554, Meridian, Mississippi where I have served as Master several times. I am currently serving as Secretary for the ninth year. In 1972 I was accepted into the Scottish Rite Bodies; in 1971 the York Rite Bodies; in 1972 the Hamasa Shrine. I served as District Deputy Grand Lecturer for four years in the Grand Lodge of Mississippi, F&AM.
On March 13, 1984 I was privileged to join the Order of the Eastern Star. Our Chapter was Instituted and I was initiated and appointed as Worthy Patron where I served several times as well as serving in all other stations a Brother can hold. It has been my honor to have served on numerous Grand Chapter Committees including being elected to the Board of Trustees for the Rob Morris Little Red Schoolhouse OES Shrine. Receiving a Grand Representative commission and then an appointment as a Grand Officer for the "Service to Others" Session in 2004-2005 were such a blessing.
At the Annual Session of our Grand Chapter in 2013 the members of this Grand Jurisdiction had enough confidence in me to elect me to the position of Grand Sentinel. It was at the Grand Chapter Session of 2015 that I was elevated to the position of Worthy Grand Patron.
This is the most humbling experience I have ever had in the Order of the Eastern Star. I am honored to serve you and I "thank you" for giving me this opportunity.
Phillip R. Smith, Worthy Grand Patron
